Notifications
Choose Email, Mattermost, and Push delivery, plus how Inbox splits Priority from Other.
Choose how Email, Mattermost, and Push deliver Pulse activity.
Overview
You always receive activity in Inbox. Settings → Notifications (/settings/notifications) controls what counts as Priority, which unread badge you see, and which events go out on Email, Mattermost, or Push.
Inbox rows and these channels are different questions. Unsubscribing stops future Inbox rows for that entity. Channel toggles do not hide event types from Inbox. See Inbox for subscribe, unsubscribe, and Priority vs Other tabs.
Workspace managers set defaults under Settings → Administration → Workspace notification defaults. Personal settings take priority.
Configure
Open Settings → Notifications. From Inbox, Inbox actions → Go to settings opens the same page.
Priority inbox
Priority inbox separates important notifications from the rest. Everything else still arrives, under Other.
Work assigned to you, mentions, and replies always stay in Priority. Urgent signals do too. You can also include categories such as Reviews, Triage responsibility, Update reminders, Resolved threads, Document activity, Issue activity, Project activity, and Project updates.
Custom filters (Add filter) send extra rows into Priority — for example everything from a particular person. You can save up to 10. Each filter can constrain Type, From, and Subscription. Within a field, any value matches; across fields, all must match; across filters, any filter matches.
Turn Priority inbox on from Inbox Display options → Enable priority inbox, or here. Include in priority inbox in Display options also opens this page.
Unread badge
Unread badge chooses what the sidebar Inbox count includes:
- Priority and Other — count everything unread
- Priority only — count only what reaches Priority
- No badge — never show an unread count
If Priority inbox is off, Priority only counts the same as Priority and Other.
Notification delivery
Notification delivery is one card per channel: Email, Mattermost, and Push. Each channel can be disabled, enabled for every event type, or enabled for some of them.
Open a channel to toggle event types. They are grouped as Work updates, Reports and digests, and System — mentions, assignments, project and request activity, check-in digests, Loop heartbeats, and system notices, among others. Reset to default restores one type; Reset all to defaults restores the channel.
A type marked Set by workspace admin still follows your personal override when you change it.
Notification timing
Inbox is always delivered immediately. Email and Mattermost follow the schedule below. Push follows the browser or device permission.
Schedule
Schedule pauses Email and Mattermost outside the hours you set (in the listed timezone). Pick days, From, and To. Inbox is not paused.
Browser notifications
Browser notifications is the Push permission for this browser. Allow Pulse when prompted. If the browser blocks them, Pulse cannot re-prompt — re-enable the site in the browser’s settings, then reload. Send test checks a granted permission.
On iOS, install Pulse to the Home Screen before web notifications can run.
Notification sound
Notification sound is the chime for a new alert. Choose Chord (default), Polite, Glass, Sharp, Calm, Whip, or Silent, and Preview it.
