Update cycles
Rename a cycle, edit its description, and move start or end dates after Pulse generates the schedule.
Update your cycles after they have been created.
Overview
The Cycles view lists previous, current, and upcoming cycles. Most adjustments start from a cycle's overflow menu on that list or from the cycle page.
Pulse generates upcoming cycles from the team cadence. You can still change a cycle for holidays or time away. The Cycles header + (New Cycle) adds a one-off cycle that is not part of the generated sequence.
Update cycle name and description
From Cycles, open the overflow menu and choose Edit cycle name and description…. You can also open the same editor from the cycle page.
The name clarifies the team's focus. The description field is the cycle goal.
When you rename a generated cycle with a number at the end (for example Sprint 40), the next generated cycle continues from that number. A name without a trailing number, or a cycle created with New Cycle, does not change the generated sequence.
Change cycle dates
Update dates from Change cycle dates in the overflow menu.
- For an upcoming cycle, use Move start date… or Move end date…
- For the current cycle, you can change only the end date
- Completed cycle dates are locked
You can't move a cycle's dates into the past.
Saving re-aligns generated cycles that follow the one you edited.
Adjusting dates without cycle cooldowns
When you shorten a cycle's end date, the gap before the next cycle shows as Cycles paused. When you extend the end date, the following generated cycle shortens.
Adjusting dates with cycle cooldowns
If cooldown is on, the cooldown label updates to the actual gap. If cooldown is off, any gap between cycles is Cycles paused.
