Mattermost

Deliver important Pulse updates as Mattermost direct messages.

Overview

Mattermost is Pulse’s workspace chat integration. A workspace owner or admin connects one Mattermost server. Members then choose which events arrive as DMs under Settings → Notifications.

You still receive activity in Inbox. Mattermost is an extra channel, not a replacement.

Configure

Integration setup

Only workspace owners and admins can manage integrations. Open Settings → Integrations (/settings/integrations), then Mattermost (/settings/integrations/mattermost).

Connecting takes three steps:

1. Before you begin — you need the Mattermost Server URL, a bot account that can open direct-message channels and post to users, and an access token for that bot. Read the Mattermost bot account docs opens Mattermost’s bot-account documentation.
2. Enter your credentials — paste the Server URL (https://mattermost.your-company.com) and Bot access token. Test connection checks them before enabling. Save & enable turns delivery on. Save without testing is available and not recommended.
3. Mattermost is connected — important heartbeat updates can now be delivered as Mattermost direct messages.

Messages are delivered to the Mattermost user whose username matches the part of the Pulse email before the @. Users whose Mattermost username differs will not receive Mattermost messages; they still get other channels.

On the connected panel, Enabled / Paused is the delivery switch (Enable or disable Mattermost delivery). Edit updates the server URL or replaces the bot token. Disconnect removes the configuration and permanently deletes the stored bot token. To pause delivery without deleting the token, use Paused instead.

If the page reads Integration not available, this deployment has not enabled Mattermost.

Notifications

Personal notifications

Once the workspace connection is enabled, each member chooses Mattermost delivery at Settings → Notifications (/settings/notifications).

Notification delivery is one card per channel: Email, Mattermost, and Push. Open Mattermost to toggle event types — mentions, assignments, project and request activity, check-in digests, Loop heartbeats, and system notices, among others. The channel can be disabled, enabled for every type, or enabled for some of them.

Schedule pauses Email and Mattermost outside the hours you set. Inbox is always delivered immediately.

Workspace managers set defaults under Settings → Administration → Workspace notification defaults. Personal settings take priority.
