Break projects into dated checkpoints and track progress from linked issues.
Milestones
Milestones divide a project into checkpoints — each with a target date and linked issues that should complete before the checkpoint ships.
Fields
Each milestone includes:

| Name | Checkpoint label (for example "Beta launch") |
| Description | Scope notes for the checkpoint |
| Target date | When the checkpoint should land |
| Sort order | Sequence on the project timeline |
| Main document | Optional spec linked to the milestone |
Pulse derives milestone status from linked issue completion:
- Unstarted — no linked work started
- In progress — some linked issues active
- Completed — linked work done
One milestone may be marked current — the active checkpoint on the project overview.
Add milestones
On project detail:
- Open the Milestones section on Overview (or the milestones panel).
- Click Add milestone.
- Enter name and target date.
- Link or create issues that must finish for this checkpoint.
Reorder milestones when sequence changes — sort order drives timeline display.
Link issues
Issues linked to a milestone:
- Roll into milestone progress on the project
- Appear in milestone filters on the project issue list
- Inherit the project team unless explicitly personal
Move issues between milestones when scope shifts; update target dates when schedules slip.
Timeline views
Project Timeline layouts plot milestones by target date. Overdue milestones stand out when linked issues remain open past the date.
Permissions
Creating and editing milestones requires update permission on the parent project.
