Labels

Labels tag issues with short, team-defined markers. Use labels to filter views, group boards, and express categories that status alone does not capture.

Team labels

Labels are defined per team under:

Settings → Your teams → <team> → Issue labels

Workspace admins may also manage label policies from workspace settings depending on configuration.

Each label has a name and color. Labels can belong to groups when your team uses grouped labels.

Apply labels

Add or remove labels:

• From issue detail — label picker
• During issue creation
• With bulk edit on selected issues
• Through issue templates that pre-set labels

An issue carries labels from its team. Moving an issue to another team may require replacing labels that do not exist on the destination team.

Filter and views

Filter issues by label from the filter menu (F). Combine labels with status, assignee, project, and cycle filters.

Label views (when available) behave like saved filters focused on one label.

Templates and automation

Templates can apply labels automatically. Development automations may add labels when merge requests link to issues — configure under team Issue statuses & automations.
