Glossary

Pulse docs use the terms below consistently. Product UI labels stay in English unless your workspace locale translates them.

A

Assignee — The person responsible for completing an issue.

At Risk — Health state for projects, initiatives, and key results when progress needs attention (On Track / At Risk / Off Track).

C

Capability — Workspace feature gate (for example reviews, cycles, customers) that controls whether a sidebar entry or action appears.

Check-in — Structured team rhythm (digests and reports) when the check-ins capability is enabled.

Cycle — Team-scoped time box for issues (similar to a sprint). Issues belong to at most one active cycle per team.

Customer — Workspace record for an external account when the customers capability is enabled.

D

Dashboard — Workspace analytics board combining widgets over issues, projects, goals, and other metrics.

Delegate — Person who may act on an issue alongside the assignee (when your workspace uses delegation).

Development link — Connection between an issue and a GitHub pull request or GitLab merge request (and related CI status).

Document — Rich-text page in Pulse (team documents, wiki collections, or docs attached to issues and projects).

E

Estimate — Team-scoped size for an issue (for example story points) used in cycle capacity and stats.

F

Favorite — Personal sidebar pin to an issue, project, view, document, or other linkable page.

G

Goals and OKRs — Pulse goal stack: North Stars, Objectives, Key Results, and Metrics. See Goals and OKRs.

I

Inbox — Personal notification center (/inbox) for activity updates on entities you follow.

Initiative — Workspace-scoped body of work grouping projects toward a shared outcome; may link to Key Results.

Issue — Team-scoped unit of execution (task, bug, improvement). Moves through workflow status columns.

Insight — Analytical report beyond default list stats when the insights capability is enabled.

K

Key Result (KR) — Measurable outcome tied to an Objective. Tracks baseline, target, and progress; may connect to a Metric.

L

Label — Team-defined tag on issues for filtering and views.

Loop — Scheduled or event-triggered automation that runs a published Pulse Agent workflow (requires pulse_loops and agent_workflows).

M

Metric — Time-series measurement; can automatically update linked Key Results.

Milestone — Dated checkpoint on a project with linked issues.

My issues — Personal list of issues assigned to or owned by you (/my-issues).

N

North Star — Organization-wide strategic theme (typically a small set). Objectives connect upward to North Stars.

O

Objective — Team-level goal linked to a North Star, measured by Key Results.

Off Track — Health state when delivery or progress is materially behind.

On Track — Health state when work proceeds as planned.

P

Pending (request) — Request status when the requester owes the next response (see Requests).

Priority — Ordered urgency on an issue relative to other team work.

Project — Bounded deliverable with dates, milestones, issues, and status updates.

Pulse Agent — In-app AI assistant (/agent) distinct from the MCP server for external clients.

R

Release — Team-scoped version or ship batch grouping issues that go out together.

Request — Cross-team intake item (bug, feature, other) routed to a target team for triage.

Review — Merge-request inbox for connected GitHub/GitLab repositories when the reviews capability is enabled.

S

Saved view — Stored filter, sort, and display preset on a list page. See Views.

Status — Workflow column for an issue (for example Backlog, In Progress, Done).

Status type — Grouping for analytics: Unstarted, Started, Completed (plus Triage and Canceled for filters).

Sub-issue — Child issue under a parent; tracks as a full issue with roll-up on the parent.

T

Team — Primary delivery boundary for issues, cycles, releases, labels, and templates.

Template — Reusable preset for issues, projects, or requests. See Templates.

Triage (request) — Default request status when the target team owes a response; also the team Triage queue in the sidebar.

V

View — See Saved view.

W

Wiki — Team folder tree for documents and knowledge collections (/teams/{id}/collections/…).

Workspace — Isolated Pulse environment for one organization: members, teams, settings, and all work items.
