Board layout
Switch issue and project lists to a board of columns, hide lanes, and add a second grouping as rows.
Show a list as columns you can scan and drag across.
Configure
Toggle board layout with Cmd/Ctrl B. Cmd/Ctrl Shift B steps the other way. You can also switch List and Board next to Display options.
Issue lists support List and Board. Project lists add Timeline — see Timeline. Initiatives and most other lists stay List-only. On viewports 768px and narrower, issue lists hide the board switcher and stay on List.
Keyboard
Cmd/Ctrl B cycles toward Board (or the next layout on the page). Cmd/Ctrl Shift B cycles back.
X toggles selection on the focused or hovered card. See Select issues for range selection.
Mouse
Click Board in the layout control beside Display options.
Click + at the top of a column to create an issue in that column. Open the column's … menu and choose Hide column. Turn a hidden column back on from Display options → Columns.
Basics
Feature parity
Board and List share filters, sort, and most keyboard shortcuts. A few differences:
- Ordering is shared. If the list is ordered by priority, the board uses the same order inside each column.
- Boards default to grouping by Status. Change Grouping to Priority, Type, Assignee, Team, Project, Milestone, or Cycle.
- When grouping by status, columns follow workflow order from first status to last.
- You can hide board columns. List grouping does not have a matching hide; use filters to drop values instead.
Hide columns
Hide a column from its … menu (Hide column). Hidden lanes stay in Display options → Columns so you can show them again. At least one column must stay visible. Drag a card onto a hidden lane without unhiding it first.
Navigating columns
Scroll the board horizontally with a trackpad or a horizontal scroll wheel. Click and drag empty board canvas (not a card) to pan.
Arrow keys move focus: ↑ / ↓ stay in the column; ← / → jump to the nearest non-empty visible column. The board does not wrap.
Swimlanes
On issue boards, Display options → Rows adds a second grouping so columns sit on horizontal bands. Row options are Assignee, Parent issue, Project, Milestone, Cycle, Release, Status, Priority, and Type — whichever field is already the column grouping is omitted.
Click a row header to collapse or expand that band. Saved views do not yet persist row grouping; reopen the board and set Rows again if you need the same lanes.
Project boards do not offer Rows.
